The Flying Refresher School record book (AIR29/1809) gives basic information that on 5th September 1949 a Harvard IIb landed at Finningley in a crosswind while it was being flown by two student pilots. The wind caused the aircraft to swing which the pilot was unable to control and it came to rest with the port wing tip and port aileron damaged.
