The Flying Refresher School record book (AIR29/1809) gives basic information that on 16th August 1949 a student pilot landed a Harvard IIB in a crosswind at Finningley airfield. A swing developed and the pilot was unable to control and a main tyre then burst. It came to rest with damage to the port wing tip and the port aileron.
