Oxford X6737 at Thornaby airfield.
On 13th July 1947 this 608 Squadron aircraft was flown on a dual instructional training flight when the port undercarriage collapsed at the end of a landing run at Thornaby. The pupil was suspended from pilot training seven days later, the squadron records state "rather a nervous type, due no doubt to his time as a PoW".

John McAllister was awarded the DFC for service with 218 Squadron in 1944.
