Mosquito III VA876 at Thornaby airfield.
On 14th March 1948 the pilot of this 608 Squadron aircraft was carrying out his third solo flight when the aircraft swung on landing at Thornaby causing the one of the undercarriage legs to collapse. Cat.Ac/FA damage was the damage assessment and a repair was undertaken at Thornaby but was never completed.

On 10th September 1948 a 608 Squadron flew the still unservicable VA876 but it crashed near Thornaby airfield.
