Mosquito T.3 TV975 at Leeming airfield.

On 13th May 1948 this No.228 Operational Conversion Unit aircraft was in the process of taking off from Leeming airfield with a trainee pilot at the controls when aircraft it began to swing. The trainee pilot attempted to correct the swing but nothing happened so the instructor took control. The power to the engines were shut down and he ground looped to prevent a complete loss of control. The groundloop caused the undercarriage to collapse. Cat.B/FA damage was the assessment and it was then transported to Brooklands for a repair in works to be carried out, with there being a huge surplace of aeroplanes after the war the repair was never completed and it was re-assessed on 2nd September 1948 with Re-Cat.E damage and it was struck off charge.
