Hornet F.1 PX277 damaged in the air, landed at Church Fenton airfield.

On 22nd November 1948 this 41 Squadron aircraft suffered a multiple birdstrike with lapwings on take off, probably at base of Church Fenton airfield. The port radiator was slightly damaged and had two birds lodged in it after landing (probably) at base of Church Fenton airfield.

Pilot - F/Lt Thomas Robinson RAF (103968).

The pilot was killed in a flying accident at Gutersloh, Germany on 15th August 1949 flying Hornet PX363. NOT at Church Fenton as numerous other websites incorrectly claim. See Air27/2413/102. His body was returned to England and buried at Gateshead.
