Hornet F.1 PX242 at Linton on Ouse airfield.
The throttle linkage that connected the engine to the cockpit levers broke during a flight on 15th May 1948. Exactly what happened prior to the 64 Squadron aircraft then attempting a single engine landing at Linton on Ouse airfield is not clear but it landed too fast, with no flaps and landed 700 yards down runway. The aircraft then overshot the runway and ran through fields and hedges for some distance before coming to a halt with severe damage.
