Hornet F.1 PX237 at Linton on Ouse airfield.
On 2nd February 1948 this 19 Squadron aircraft bounced on landing at Linton on Ouse airfield, the pilot attempted to apply full power to climb away and fly a circuit of the airfield but only the
starboard engine responded. The aircraft began to roll to port, the pilot reduced power and attempted to land, but the landing was heavy and the aircraft sustained damage. It may have come to rest
in the overshoot area beyond the runway. 19 Squadron were based at Church Fenton at the time.
The incident is mentioned in passing in Linton on Ouse's station record book, this states that the aircraft crashed on landing at Linton on Ouse and was from RAF Newton, not Church Fenton.
The pilot named is that shown below. He appears in 19 Squadron records for the era.
Pilot - P2 McKay.
