Halifax VII PN241 damaged in the air, landed at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On 7th April 1946 this 1665 Heavy Transport Conversion Unit aircraft unfortunately had the port outer engine catch fire in the air. The pilot was later commended by the Station Commander of Linton on Ouse airfield for his prompt actions in feathering the engine and for making a successful three engine landing. The National Archives hold file "AVIA5/28. Rep.W2339" for this incident which I have yet to view but may give more information about the damage. It may well be the aircraft only sustained engine damage. The aircraft's AM Form 78 gives no damage assessment for any incident occurring in April 1946. It gives a Cat.B damage assessment during June 1946 but that it was later cancelled before the aircraft was returned to 1665 H.T.C.U..

Pilot - F/Lt John Page DFC RAFVR (142144).

Crew - Names unknown.
