Wellington T.18 ND108 at Leeming airfield.

On 15th August 1946 this No.54 Operational Training Unit aircraft had had it's pitot head cover left on prior to the pilot attempting to take off at Leeming airfield. Covering the pitot tube meant that the air speed indicator would not work. The pilot abandoned the take off and had to raise undercarriage to stop to avoid a collision. The damage was assessed as being Cat.E/FA and the aircraft was struck off charge.
