Avenger III KE461 at Brough airfield.
On 17th June 1946 this aircraft on a delivery flight from RNAS Stretton (HMS Blackcap) to Brough airfield where it was probably due to have work done or modifications made by Blackburn Aircraft Ltd who had a factory at the airfield. On landing at Brough it ran off the perimeter track and struck a bridge before ending up in a ditch. The damage was repaired and it continued to be used for some years.
Pilot - Sub-Lt (Acting) Edward James Jolly RN.
Acting Sub-Lt Jolly died on 26th November 1946 serving with HMS Blackcap when Seafire SX350 crashed near Abbotsinch. He is buried at Ordsall Churchyard, Nottinghamshire. He was twenty one years old.
