Oxford AS731 at Full Sutton airfield.
Either on 15th or 16th September 1946 this No.4 Group Communications Flight aircraft was flown from Hendon airfield to Full Sutton airfield. The purpose of the flight is given as being a training exercise. At
13.15hrs, after landing at Full Sutton airfield, the aircraft was being taxied onto the perimeter track at the end of the runway when ran off the end of the concrete and stuck a fire extinguisher that was on the
grass verge beside the perimeter track but hidden in long grass. The aircraft sustained damage on the underside of the fuselage in three places. The pilot was deemed to be at fault for taxying too quickly after landing.
The date of 16th September 1946 is given in Full Sutton airfield station records but bound within this orb is the AM Form 765c for the flying accident and this gives the date as being 15th September 1946.
