Halifax RG544 damaged in the air, landed at Full Sutton airfield.
In the early hours of 19th March 1945 the crew of this 77 Squadron aircraft were detailed to fly an operational flight to bomb Witten and they took off from Full Sutton airfield at 00.48hrs. The crew
released their bomb load onto the target at 04.16hrs from 17,500 feet. The aircraft was damaged by enemy action in the course of this flight which saw the fuselage mainplanes and the flying controls
receive damage but despite this the crew returned to Full Sutton and landed at 07.31hrs.
