Halifax RG541 at Full Sutton airfield.
I have found two differing accounts of what might have happened to this 77 Squadron aircraft on 21st March 1945. It either landed at Full Sutton airfield at 14.34hrs and as the aircraft ran down the runway the starboard outer engine cut out, extra power on the port side of the aircraft caused the aircraft to swing and this was not corrected before the undercarriage collapsed and it came to rest badly damaged. The alternative (from a No.4 Group damage return) is slightly different in that the starboard outer engine cut out as the aircraft made an approach to land and in poor visibility the crew did not correctly align their approach to land correctly and the aircraft touched down off the runway, it then ran through a ditch and the undercarriage collapsed. The fuselage was reported to have been broken. Either way the aircraft was badly damaged and it was not repaired.
