Halifax RG446 at Snaith airfield.
During the day on 24th March 1945 this 51 Squadron aircraft was to have flown an operational flight to bomb Sterkrade. At 09.56hrs as the aircraft picked up speed at Snaith airfield it began to swing to port,
the pilot corrected the swing but it then swung to starboard which could not be corrected before a collision occurred with a tractor off the runway. Rather annoyingly the 51 Squadron orb does not mention this incident. Listing the other squadron aircraft's take off times there is a gap between 09.56hrs (what would have been the penultimate aircraft to take off) and 10.01hrs when final one took off.
Pilot - P/O Lawrence O'Hara Larmer RAAF (430037).
