Halifax RG424 at Melbourne airfield.
On the night of 8th / 9th April 1945 the crew of this 10 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb submarine buildings at Hamburg. They took off from Melbourne airfield at 19.20hrs and released their bomb load over the target area at 22.36hrs from 19,500 feet. On landing back at Melbourne airfield at 01.31hrs the port undercarriage leg collapsed due to the landing being heavy.
