Halifax PN444 damaged in the air, landed at Carnaby airfield.
During the afternoon of 11th April 1945 this 158 Squadron was flown on an operational flight to bomb Nuremberg and took off from Lissett at 11.22hrs. The crew released their bombs
onto the the target at 15.06hrs from 15,000 feet and while doing so the aircraft was hit and damaged by flak. With a damaged port wing and the port port engine shut down the crew returned
to Yorkshire but landed at Carnaby airfield at 18.36hrs.
