Lancaster PB786 damaged in the air, landed at Carnaby airfield.

The Carnaby station record book states that a Lancaster Mk1 from No.1 Group landed at Carnaby at 00.06hrs on 13th March 1945. It had been damaged by enemy action with the starboard inner engine unservicable, the starboard tyre was burst and the aircraft had lost brake pressure. It landed safely without further damage.

Having gone through all the No.1 Group squadron orbs this must relate to Lancaster PB786 of 153 Squadron that was flown on a minelaying flight on the evening of 12th March 1945. It took off from Scampton at 17.30hrs with six mines to lay. It was damaged by flak and landed at Carnaby at the magic 00.06hrs.
