Lancaster PA228 at Finningley airfield.
During the evening of 18th February 1945 this Bomber Command Instructor's School aircraft was being flown on a training flight with five crew, at least three were qualified pilots with the first named being the most experienced in flying Lancasters and was probably acting as a flying instructor for the other two named officers. On landing at Finningley at 20.40hrs following a thirty minute flight the tail wheel assembly collapsed. The collapse was investigated and tail wheel fork was found badly fitted to the oleo leg.
