Halifax NR155 damaged in the air, landed at Breighton airfield.

On the evening of 12th January 1945 this 78 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational flight to lay mines and took off from Breighton airfield at 17.31hrs. The crew released three mines from 15,000 feet at 21.00hrs but the fourth would not release. At 21.45hrs while in normal flight this aircraft was fired at by a friendly aircraft, believed by the crew to have been a Halifax, and the wireless operator sustained foot injuries. Despite the damage the crew flew back to base and landed at 23.10hrs.
