Halifax NP795 at Linton on Ouse airfield.
At 18.35hrs on 16th January 1945 the crew of this 426 Squadron aircraft were in the process of taking off from Linton on Ouse airfield to undertake an operational flight to bomb Madgeburg when the starboard main tyre burst. The aircraft ground-looped resulting in the undercarriage collapsing. The runway was blocked and only ten 426 Squadron aircraft got into the air prior to this incident. This aircraft was initially assessed as repairable but was struck off charge in March 1945 when repairs were probably begun.
