Halifax NA671 damaged by flak, returned to Burn airfield.

On the night of 2nd / 3rd February 1945 the crew of this 578 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Wanna-Eickel. They took off from Burn airfield at 20.13hrs and released their bomb load from 18,500 feet at 23.34hrs onto a reddish glow beneath 10/10th cloud and using a GEE position fix. During the flight the aircraft sustained minor flak damage to the astro-dome, one of the 500lb bombs also hung-up and would not release manually so was brought back. The crew brought the aircraft back to Burn where they landed at 02.02hrs.
