Halifax NA622 at Rufforth airfield.

At 00.56hrs on 4th April 1945 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft made a heavy landing at Rufforth airfield during a night time solo circuits and landings exercise. The port wing tip struck the ground after a swing developed. In trying to correct this swing the port wing tip hit the ground, the aircraft ground looped and the undercarriage collapsed. The pilot completed the training course at Rufforth and was posted to 347 Squadron at Elvington on 17th April 1945.
