Halifax NA621 at Rufforth airfield.
At 13.14hrs on 26th February 1945 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was slightly damaged at Rufforth airfield when the tail wheel collapsed while turning to clear the runway after landing. This was yet another tail wheel bracket that failed before the modification was carried out.
Pilot (instructor) - F/O John Anthony Bathurst Malvern DFC RAFVR (173917).
Pilot (pupil) - Sgt Anthony Arthur Neville Rowland RAFVR (1285604).
The pupil pilot appears to have had an interesting RAF career, he had received a commission in July 1941 but was removed from the service on 25th October 1943. I'm not exactly sure what that means.
