Halifax NA521 at Rufforth airfield.

At 12.24hrs on 26th February 1945 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was landing at Rufforth airfield when a strong gust of wind caught the aircraft and caused the starboard wing of the aircraft to lift. The port rudder clipped the ground causing minor damage. The aircraft may then have swung off the runway. The language problem with the instructor speaking English and the pupil being French may have had some baring on the pupil being slow to react to the effects of landing in a cross wind.

Pilot (instructor) - F/Lt Frank William Kendrick RAFVR (134497).
