Halifax NA123 damaged by flak, returned to Burn airfield.
On the evening of the 4th February 1945 the crew of this 578 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Gelsen-Kirchen, they took off from Burn airfield at 17.27hrs and released their bomb load over the target area from 19,500 feet at 20.35hrs but while over the target area the aircraft was damaged in the nose by flak. Despite the damage the crew returned to base and landed safely at Burn at 22.48hrs.
