Halifax MZ902 damaged in the air, landed at Pocklingon airfield.
On 7th February 1945 this 102 Squadron aircraft was to have been flown on an operational flight to bomb Goch and took off from Pocklington airfield at 19.10hrs. Outbound the port outer engine suffered a major failure and caught fire. After the crew shut down the engine and feathered the propeller the fire went out but continuing towards the target was not possible. The crew jettisoned the bomb load at 21.26hrs and turned for home. The available information suggestd that despite the damage the crew landed safely back at base of Pocklington airfield at 22.21hrs.
