Halifax MZ801 suggested as crashing at Leconfield airfield.
On 19th April 1945 this aircraft is listed in slightly less modern books that the creation date of this webpage as sustaining damage in an accident at Leconfield airfield. I have not found any evidence of this as yet. I would suggest it may not have been an accident but rather a date when an assessment struck it off charge with it being a worn-out aircraft. 640 Squadron aircraft were operating mainly RG.. serial numbered Halifaxes in April 1945 so I would suggest it was an aircraft that was transferred out to an M.U. where an assessment took place that wrote it off.
