Halifax MZ775 at Lissett airfield.

On the night of 7th / 8th March 1945 this 158 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational flight to bomb Hemmingstedt. The aircraft took off from Lissett airfield at 18.43hrs and released their bomb load from 12,000 feet at 22.01hrs. At 00.23hrs the aircraft made a normal landing at Lissett but before coming to a halt the tail wheel collapsed. The aircraft came to rest with the stern frame damaged and the tail wheel sheered off. A modification to change the tail wheel assembly mounting on this aircraft had not yet been carried out.
