Halifax MZ741 at Elvington airfield.

On the night of 14th / 15th January 1945 this 346 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational flight to bomb Dulmen and took off from Elvington at 18.42hrs. The crew released their bomb load from 20,500 feet at 23.20hrs. Nothing out of the ordinary appears to have happened during the operational sortie. On landing at Elvington airfield at 01.40hrs the aircraft bounced and then swung off the runway in a gusty wind. The aircraft then suffered the tail wheel assembly collapse and it came to rest slightly damaged.
