Halifax MZ561 at Snaith airfield.

On 4th January 1945 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a short training flight and during which the aircraft landed at Snaith airfield. At 16.20hrs the aircraft was taxying near a hanger when a gusty wind that was effecting the control of the aircraft blew over the elevators and forced the control column out of the pilot's hands. The pilot applied the brakes but they did not hold the aircraft in the wind and a wing tip struck a hanger door.
