Halifax MZ353 damaged in the air, landed at Full Sutton airfield.
During the afternoon of 27th February 1945 the crew of this 77 Squadron aircraft were detailed to fly an operational flight to bomb Mainz and they took off from Full Sutton airfield at 13.20hrs. The crew released
their bomb load onto the target at 16.40hrs from 16,700 feet. The aircraft was damaged by enemy flak but despite the damage the crew returned to Full Sutton and landed at 19.30hrs. Damage was found on the starboard
aileron, starboard main plane and the port oil tank.
