Halifax MZ315 at Melbourne airfield.

At 19.17hrs on 26th January 1945 this 10 Squadron aircraft landed at Melbourne following a training flight, the runway was icey and the brakes were ineffective. The end result was the aircraft ran off the end of the runway and it was slightly damaged. The squadron records mention the weather, stating that there was snow in the morning but the afternoon was fine though frosty.

This crew were posted in to 10 Squadron on 14th January 1945 and were working up to being an operationally ready crew when the incident occurred on 26th January 1945. Unfortunately their service numbers are not given in the squadron records.
