Spitfire Mk.IX MH939 at Clifton airfield.
While this aircraft was in the care of No.4 Delivery Flight at 10.45hrs on Wednesday, 3rd January 1945 it tipped onto its nose while taxying at Clifton airfield, possibly on soft grass. It occurred forty yards from the edge of the runway in use at the time. It appears to have been one of ten that were due to be flown to Wittering on this date, with the other nine being successfully flown south.
Pilot - F/O Finbow.
