Lancaster ME536 at Leeming airfield.
At 15.00hrs on 21st March 1945 this 429 Squadron aircraft was being taxied around the perimeter track at Leeming airfield so the pilots on board could begin a training flight when it collided with a parked lorry left unattended. The aircraft's two starboard engines received damage. An investigation concluded that the lorry should not have been left where it was and that the driver was then banned from driving on the airfield. The pilot was not cleared of blame however and it was said that he should have exercised more care.
