Halifax LV922 at Rufforth airfield.

At 00.50hrs on 17th April 1945 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was about to be used to fly a night training exercise but the starboard outer engine cut as the aircraft was heading down the runway at Rufforth. The pilot attempted to reduced the power on the engines but the aircraft swung off the runway, the undercarriage eventually collapsed and the port outer engine caught fire. The fire appears to have been put out but the damage was deemed enough to write off the aircraft.
