Lancaster LM752 damaged in the air, crashlanded at Carnaby airfield.

On 2nd March 1945 the crew of this 153 Squadron aircraft took off from Scampton at 07.05hrs to fly an operational flight to bomb Cologne. The crew released their bomb load onto the target from 17,000 feet at 10.03hrs. Whilst over Germany the aircraft was badly damaged by flak which caused the hydraulic system that operated the undercarriage and the bomb doors to fail. At 13.40hrs the aircraft made a landing at Carnaby airfield with one main undercarriage leg retracted.
