Halifax LL586 damaged in the air, landed at Rufforth airfield.
At 09.15hrs on 14th February 1945 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was in the process of taking off from Rufforth airfield when an engine caught fire. The aircraft managed to take off. The engine that was on fire was immediately shut down, the propeller feathered and the internal Graviner fire extinguisher operated. The crew flew a circuit of the airfield, making a hurried landing.
