Hurricane Mk.IIc LF531 at Dalton airfield.

On 28th February 1945 this No.1695 (Bomber) Defence Training Flight aircraft was being taxied at Dalton airfield in a strong wind when a gust caught the aircraft, it then ran off the taxi-way and quite probably into soft ground that saw it tip on to its nose. This pilot had only been posted to this unit the day prior to this incident and had previously served with 428 Squadron flying bombers. He joined No.1695 Flight for night fighter affiliation training. He was awarded the DFC for service with 428 Squadron.
