Lancaster KB880 damaged in the air, landed at Croft airfield.
During the morning of 18th April 1945 this 434 Squadron aircraft was used to undertake a fighter affiliation exercise. While taking evasive action to avoid the simulated attack from a fighter aircraft the Lancaster was put into a dive. In pulling out of the dive excessive forces were applied to the aircraft and this caused the wrinkling of both main planes and also a number of rivits to fail. The pilot was able to land the aircraft safely at Croft.
