Avenger JZ479 at Sherburn in Elmet airfield.
At 11.00hrs on 1st March 1945 this aircraft was being taxied around the perimeter track at Sherburn in Elmet airfield during a flight being made by a No.7 Ferry Pilot Pool pilot of the ATA in a strong crosswind when the aircraft swung of the perimeter track. The tail wheel burst and also the starboard main wheel caught fire and the tyre also burst.
