Lancaster JB484 at Carnaby airfield.

On the night of 18th / 19th January 1945 a gale over Yorkshire was responsible for damaging a number of aircraft that were parked on various airfields across the county. Lancaster JB484 was a 1666 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft that had been diverted to land at Carnaby earlier in the month and was still there on this night. The aircraft was correctly parked with it's nose into the wind but during the night the wind direction changed. A fifty mph gale bent the rudders and ailerons.
