Halifax HX292 damaged in the air, landed at Rufforth airfield.
On 8th April 1945 the crew of this 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft were undertaking some form of flight that involved a demonstation of radar equipment. Soon after taking off from Topcliffe airfield the starboard inner engine caught fire. With the flames becoming uncontrolable the pilot made a landing at Rufforth airfield at 10.18hrs but the aircraft bounced and overshot the runway sustaining minor damage.
