Lancaster HK755 at Lindholme airfield.
During the afternoon of 1st April 1945 the crew of this 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft were undertaking a training flight that involved practicing flying on three engines. Just before 15.45hrs and during one of the landings the pilot misjudged the approach when it swung in a strong wind. A landing was made on the grass and the pilot raised the undercarriage to prevent the aircraft from running into a ditch. It came to rest towards the north-eastern side of the airfield in a damaged state. The crew appear to have escaped injury.
