Warwick BV419 damaged in the air, further damaged at Thornaby airfield.

On 15th April 1945 the crew of this 279 Squadron aircraft were giving the aircraft an airtest when the aircraft developed fire to the port engine in the air. The pilot made a belly landing at Thornaby airfield at 14.29hrs but the fire spread and the aircraft was badly damaged. The Thornaby station orb (AIR28/826) gives the information that clarified my previous thoughts in respect of this incident that have been copied to other websites).
