Spitfire BL972 damaged in Yorkshire.

On 2nd May 1945 this Central Gunnery School aircraft suffered from the coolant leaking from the engine. The engine began to overheat so the pilot force landed. The location of where the landing was made is not yet known but it was probably in the region around Catfoss where the aircraft was based. The C.G.S. orb states that the aircraft sustained damage that would write it off, Cat.E being the damage assessment.

Pilot - Major Dawson-Squire.
