Unidentfied Halifax at Croft airfield.

At 00.06hrs on 2nd February 1945 this 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft made a landing at Croft airfield owing to a technical difficulty. On landing the aircraft ran off the runway and damaged a tyre, the tyre then blew while being taxied to a dispersal point on the airfield resulting in minor damage to the aircraft. The identity of the aircraft is not yet known, it is listed purely as "ZU-R", these basic details have been located in the Croft station orb. The incident does not feature in the 76 Base orb where there is a list of the damaged Dishforth-based aircraft during February 1945 which would suggest the damage was of a very minor nature.
