Unidentified Mosquito at Carnaby airfield.

On 26th March 1945 the crew of this 68 Squadron aircraft were undertaking a night patrol with three other Mosquitos from the same unit, recorded in the unit records as being under the name "Ferro-17". During the flight the starboard engine failed. Unable to return to their home airfield of Church Fenton they landed at Carnaby at 20.30hrs where minor damage occurred.

68 Squadron disbanded in April 1945 and this crew were posted elsewhere. David Wills is listed as being posted to Church Fenton on 20th April 1945 (probably prior to a posting somewhere else), he was later awarded the DFC in May 1945. Frederick Goodwin was posted to 62 OTU on 6th May 1945.
