Unidentified aircraft at Thornaby airfield.
On 23rd April 1945 an aircraft landed at Thornaby airfield but suffered damage when the undercarriage folded. No injuries resulted. The airfield record book (AIR28/826) mentions the incident and that their medical section were on standby between 12.30hrs and 12.40hrs for the incident. It was possibly involved a 279 Squadron Warwick. The Thornaby ORB lists 279 Sqn "-T" as landing at 12.21hrs and then does not feature again. It may well be the aircraft involved but significantly more information is required.
