Unidentified Oxford at Lissett airfield.

On 22nd March 1945 the port engine of this unidentified Oxford failed while the aircraft was flying in the circuit of Lissett airfield. The pilot made a hurried landing and the undercarriage was not properly locked down, on touching down it collapsed and the aircraft skidded to a halt sustaining minor damage. The aircraft was probably on the books with 158 Squadron or Lissett's Station Flight at the time, the pilot almost certainly was a serving pilot with 158 Squadron who were based there. The 158 Squadron record book does not mention the incident.

Pilot - F/Lt W R Sharp. (probably Acting F/Lt William Rayne Sharp RAFVR (152696)).

William Sharp was awarded the DFC for service with 158 Squadron, Gazetted on 22nd May 1945.
